IN THE HONOUR OF RAYMOND LEE

Vancouver, B.C: A father figure for the new Tibetan immigrant in Brtish Columbia, Mr.

Raymond Yee, passed away on 16th March 2021. It is a shock and sad for all the Tibetans in British Columbia and Tibetans in general on his sudden demise.

Mr. Raymond and his wife Janet Lau, are Chinese Canadian and dedicated long time member of Canadian Tibet Committee. His parents immigrated to Canada to escape the ill-effects of Communist China from southern Guangdong Province, China. He lived with his wife Janet Lau and three children in Vancouver, British Columbia.

He was a very humble, ethical, compassionate and dedicated person. His commitment for the Tibet cause began about 25 years ago, after his first ever visit to Northern India, Nepal, China and finally to Tibet with his then fiance and now wife Janet Lau. After returning to Canada from that trip, they looked for an organization that supports Tibet and came to connect with Canada Tibet Committee (CTC), through which they have been actively supporting the cause since. Both Mr. Raymond and his wife, have served as a member of CTC, and have been active in organizing demonstrations and talks to support the Tibetan cause, including educating their fellow Chinese. As a Chinese-Canadian, he proved to marginalized Tibetans that Tibetan-Chinese friendships are possible.

After 25 years of actively supporting the Tibetan cause, Mr. Raymond strongly believes he continues to be inspired by the bravery of the Tibetans who stand up against the Chinese government, and by the belief that "we live in a world out of balance that needs more Tibet".

. His latest contribution to the Tibetan cause was by organizing March 10th,

2021, 62rd virtual commemoration Tibetan up-rising day, where he mentioned, " He is so worried about Tibet issue and if not him (as Canada Tibet Committee member), than who would do this important job of raising Tibet issue to the Canadian Government".

Tibetan Resettlement Project for the displaced Tibetan from Arunachal Pradesh in British Columbia was one of his biggest contributions to the Tibetan Community. We may say it might not be possible to have established the project in British Columbia without his unwavering support and commitment without seeking credit. He helped the new comers in every steps of their life for their successful settlement, right from documentation to finding a job to taking them at the job site. His simplicity and modestly is overwhelming. These mere words are not sufficient to describe what he has done for the Tibet cause and for the Tibetan in British Columbia. Just before his passing away on March 12, 2021, the new Board members were so privileged to have virtual meeting to share few words with him and during that meeting he expressed his plan and support for our upcoming very important project of buying a Community Hall for the Tibetan Community in British Columbia. His sudden passing away is a great lost for Tibet cause and particularly for Tibetan living in British Columbia.

We the Tibetan Community of British Columbia are with his family in this hour of grief and pray for the departed soul. We also hope our prayers will find peace, comfort, strength and courage to his family and friends.

"Those we love don't go away,

They walk beside us every day,

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Still loved, still missed and very dear."
